# Documentation - get index api- why there is no info about what api is returning

In doc: [Get index information | Elasticsearch API documentation](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/indices-get-index.html)  
there is no info about what is returned.

Is this in purpose? If yes why?

### For example:

From console I see that keys of returned map are index names.  
Without clear statement in doc that this is true I can't base my  
design on this.
