# Documentation on Elastic search upgrade

Hi,
I have been trying to upgrade the ELasticsearch version from 7.1.1 to 7.8.0 and unfortunately it has broke our Kibana. I had a good reference on breaking changes and new upgrades for each version with the help of documentation in [Elastic.co](http://Elastic.co) website for each version.
I am interested to know whether we have any detailed documentation on the changes to be made in configurations and other .yml files to have successful upgrade. I suppose this help a lot of developers around the globe to save enough amount of time.

Did you also upgraded Kibana? Kibana and Elasticsearch needs to be in the same [minor version](https://www.elastic.co/support/matrix#matrix_compatibility), if you are using Elasticsearch 7.8.X, you need Kibana 7.8.X.
What errors do you have in the Kibana log?
