# Does ClusterIP Session Affinity ClientIP have value?

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any value is using clusterIPs with `sessionAffinity` set to `clientIP`?

My thought here is that since Elasticsearch uses many layers of [caching](https://www.elastic.co/blog/elasticsearch-caching-deep-dive-boosting-query-speed-one-cache-at-a-time), there might be value in having the same clients/queries hit the same node, so that they can take advantage of the caching.

Does this make sense? Has anyone tested this to see if there is any noticeable value is doing something like this?

Hi,

I think this is a question for the Elasticsearch team. From an eck/operator perspective it's hard to assess the pros and cons of such an affinity between the client and an Elasticsearch node. Could you open a topic [here](https://discuss.elastic.co/c/elastic-stack/elasticsearch/6)?
