Hello There!
I have seen similar topic but it is closed for two years.
I can not see STRUCTURED LOGS in Kibana.
 ![ELK-STRUCT-LOGS](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/elastic/original/3X/8/e/8eb498d933687e8df8cdc86abf861716b6400b36.png)

I am using filebeat with module elasticsearch and this is module's config:

```auto
# Module: elasticsearch
# Docs: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/7.17/filebeat-module-elasticsearch.html
- module: elasticsearch
  # Server log
  server:
    enabled: true
    # Set custom paths for the log files. If left empty,
    # Filebeat will choose the paths depending on your OS.
    var.paths:
# - /var/log/elasticsearch/*.log # Plain text logs
      - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_server.json # JSON logs
      - /var/log/kibana/*.log
  gc:
    enabled: false
    # Set custom paths for the log files. If left empty,
    # Filebeat will choose the paths depending on your OS.
    var.paths:
      - /var/log/elasticsearch/gc.log.[0-9]*
      - /var/log/elasticsearch/gc.log
  audit:
    enabled: true
    # Set custom paths for the log files. If left empty,
    # Filebeat will choose the paths depending on your OS.
    var.paths:
 # - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_access.log # Plain text logs
      - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_audit.json # JSON logs
  slowlog:
    enabled: false
    # Set custom paths for the log files. If left empty,
    # Filebeat will choose the paths depending on your OS.
    var.paths:
  # - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_index_search_slowlog.log # Plain text logs
  # - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_index_indexing_slowlog.log # Plain text logs
      - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_index_search_slowlog.json # JSON logs
      - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_index_indexing_slowlog.json # JSON logs
  deprecation:
    enabled: false
    # Set custom paths for the log files. If left empty,
    var.paths:
   # - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_deprecation.log # Plain text logs
      - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_deprecation.json # JSON logs
```

I have tried to discover where can be an issue by disabling and enabling sections but still no clue.
Could you please give any help?

I can provide other configs if needed.

Hello @cheshirecat !

Have read through this discuss issue, it steps through a number of things to check:

> [@Kibana - Stack Monitoring - No structured logs found](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/kibana-stack-monitoring-no-structured-logs-found/241213):
>
> Hi All, We have an issue where Kibana throws a "No structured logs found" message in the Log section when viewing the Stack Monitoring page, where it should show the last 10 log entries. I have Filebeat running on each of the ES nodes using the standard configuration (with updated var.paths to our log file locations) as documented here [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/filebeat-module-elasticsearch.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/filebeat-module-elasticsearch.html) The logs are being successfuly written to an index with name filebeat…

If you can provide the information that was requested there (running the query against indices to see if you have data, checking if your ingest pipelines are in place) it would be easier to help.

Hello,
For this query:

```auto
POST filebeat-*/_search?filter_path=hits.hits._source.event.dataset,hits.hits._source.@timestamp,hits.hits._source.elasticsearch
{
  "size": 10,
  "sort": [
    {
        "order": "desc"
      }
    }
  ],
  "collapse": {
    "field": "event.dataset"
  }
}
```

I got:

```auto
Welcome to the community 🙂 apologies if I seemed rude! It does look like your data is not being parsed correctly based on the last search you did.
A few further things to check:
- Could you run `GET _ingest/pipeline`? In your case we want to make sure that `filebeat-7.17.5-elasticsearch-server-pipeline` exists (or something like it).
- Would you confirm that you ran through every step here: [Filebeat quick start: installation and configuration | Filebeat Reference [7.17] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/7.17/filebeat-installation-configuration.html)
For installation I used ES repo 7.x and than apt-get - this way it's easier to use Ansible scripts.
This is my ES output (I always test everything with ES output before I start to use Logstash):
```auto
# ---------------------------- Elasticsearch Output ----------------------------
output.elasticsearch:
  # Array of hosts to connect to.
  hosts: ["my_ip_address:10000"]

  # Protocol - either `http` (default) or `https`.
  protocol: "http"

  # Authentication credentials - either API key or username/password.
  #api_key: "id:api_key"
  #username: "elastic"
  #password: "changeme"

```
Kibana settings:
```auto
# =================================== Kibana ===================================

# Starting with Beats version 6.0.0, the dashboards are loaded via the Kibana API.
# This requires a Kibana endpoint configuration.
setup.kibana:

  # Kibana Host
  # Scheme and port can be left out and will be set to the default (http and 5601)
  # In case you specify and additional path, the scheme is required: http://localhost:5601/path
  # IPv6 addresses should always be defined as: https://[2001:db8::1]:5601
  host: "my_ip_address:8801"

  # Kibana Space ID
  # ID of the Kibana Space into which the dashboards should be loaded. By default,
  # the Default Space will be used.
  #space.id:

```
Logging section:
```auto
# ================================== Logging ===================================

# Sets log level. The default log level is info.
# Available log levels are: error, warning, info, debug
logging.level: info

# At debug level, you can selectively enable logging only for some components.
# To enable all selectors use ["*"]. Examples of other selectors are "beat",
# "publisher", "service".
logging.selectors: ["*"]

```
Hi @cheshirecat Welcome to the community apologies you are having issues.
And to be clear...
- What Version of the Stack are you on?
- And you are just trying to get "Stack Logs" in the monitoring?
- Also is Filebeat and Elasticsearch and Kibana all on the same node? (they do not need to be but filebeat needs to be where Kibana and Elasticsearch are)
- Also you did not show the filebeat.yml
if I get a chance later or over the weekend I will take a look. If I remember I pretty sure you are missing a yml setting or there could be a bug where you also have to ship metrics as well (though I think that was fixed)
Like did you set from [here](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/configuring-filebeat.html)
You definitely _ **need** _ this this is probably your biggest issue.
Set `xpack.monitoring.collection.enabled` to `true` on the production cluster in the elasticsearch.yml . By default, it is disabled (`false` ).
`xpack.monitoring.collection.enabled: true`
Also those field mapping question is usually because you did not run setup after you configure the `modules.d/elasticsearch.yml`
`filebeat setup -e`
Also you don't put kibana logs in the elasticsearch module that is not correct,
` - /var/log/kibana/*.log`
And finally when you show out of order snippets of code it is much harder to debug than just showing the full `filebeat.yml`, `modules.d/elasticsearch.yml` as well as probably `elasticsearch.yml`
**Ok I tested.. I got monitoring to work by simply**
adding this to the elasticsearch `elasticsearch.yml`
`xpack.monitoring.collection.enabled: true`
Then I enabled in modules.d/elasticsearch.yml pointed to my
```auto
 module: elasticsearch
  # Server log
  server:
    enabled: true

    # Set custom paths for the log files. If left empty,
    # Filebeat will choose the paths depending on your OS.
    var.paths: ["/Users/sbrown/workspace/elastic-install/8.3.3/elasticsearch-8.3.3/logs/local_server.json"]

```
Then I ran
`filebeat. setup -e`
Then I started filebeat
`filebeat -e`
Then the logs showed up in monitoring
Hello 🙂
There is nothing to apologie - it's just life 😃 Maybe my config is not as good as I thought 😉
> [@stephenb](#):
> What Version of the Stack are you on?
Version is:
> [@cheshirecat](#):
>
> filebeat-7.17.5`
> [@stephenb](#):
>
> And you are just trying to get "Stack Logs" in the monitoring?
Yes, and all I see is information there were no structured logs.
> [@stephenb](#):
>
> Also is Filebeat and Elasticsearch and Kibana all on the same node? (they do not need to be but filebeat needs to be where Kibana and Elasticsearch are)
Yes, they are.
> [@stephenb](#):
>
> You definitely _ **need** _ this this is probably your biggest issue.
> Set `xpack.monitoring.collection.enabled` to `true` on the production cluster in the elasticsearch.yml . By default, it is disabled (`false` ).
Done. After restarting elasticsearch, making changes to filebeat/modules.d/elasticsearch.yml and running
```auto
filebeat. setup -e

```
and than
```auto
systemctl start filebeat

```
there is a "little" change. Now I can see this message:
 ![es-logs](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/elastic/original/3X/b/4/b4cacd57da9b3c5951fe7c71787e1ecd38c45e2e.png)
But changing time filter does not make a difference.
This is my modules.d/elasticsearch.yml:
```auto
# Module: elasticsearch
# Docs: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/7.17/filebeat-module-elasticsearch.html

    var.paths:

      - /var/log/elasticsearch/*_deprecation.json # JSON logs

```
and I know there are log files:
```auto
# ls -lah /var/log/elasticsearch/ | grep server
-rw-r--r-- 1 elasticsearch elasticsearch 54K 06-21 11:45 elasticsearch_server.json

Those do not correct

And assume the missing #in the very first character is just a typo

There are sensitive values so I don't want to show them.
in my config file PORT is a number of port that I use for transport.

I made it like it's in manual: [link](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/7.17/modules-discovery-hosts-providers.html#file-based-hosts-provider).

As I said: I'm a newbie - still learning. Shouldn't I have it enabled? I thought it's necessary.

No ... Disable that...that is a whole additional file harvester... and makes it harder to debug.

So cleanup everything.... delete the filebeat indices and index pattern etc.. etc..

Rerun filebeat setup then start filebeat again...

Then Go to Kibana -\> Dev Tools and run

`GET _cat/indices?v`

And show me those results

I will also redo on same version to see if somethings is different.

Also what do the filebeat logs show? There is probably something usefull in the... please share them.

I think I made a mistake so I did what you asked for once again. Changed part of this post is result of `GET _cat/indices?v`.

Dears,
I am trying to do this same but with https/ssl.
I try to do `filebeat setup -e` but got error message:

I checked credentials - they're ok, I can log to Kibana using username and password.

What configs would you like to see?

You probably need this under the kibana section if you are using a self signed cert
