# Doubt about cacerts file of Elasticsearch

Hi, everyone

I would like to know the purpose of **cacerts** file of **Elasticsearch** (`/usr/share/elasticsearch/jdk/lib/security/cacerts`).

It has some certificates into, are they important? they could be removed?
