# Doubt in restore process

Hi
I am trying out the elasticsearch 1.0's snapshot and restore feature. My
doubt is when the restore operation is performed will the missing shards,
those available when snapshot was taken, restored?

I tried restoring the snapshot after removing a shard. But this missing
shard was not restored.
Is this the expected behaviour for the feature.
Info on this would help a lot.
