# ECK Snapshot option outside Kubernetes cluster

Hi,

What are the snapshots backup options for ECK/ELK deployed on hosted kubernetes cluster? Is it possible for use external ftp or http server to store snapshots oustide kubernetes cluster?

You have the same options as when you deploy Elasticsearch outside of Kubernetes see [Snapshot and restore | Elasticsearch Guide [7.15] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/snapshot-restore.html)

We also have one example in our ECK documentation that applies that using a GCP storage bucket [Create automated snapshots | Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes [1.8] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/cloud-on-k8s/current/k8s-snapshots.html) But other approaches are possible too (AWS S3 or S3 compatible like minio, HDFS, Azure disk, shared filesystem)
