# Elastic agent indices - ILM Policy Changes

Hello,

We have deployed Elastic Agent on 1000+ VM's, i see default ILM policy is being used " **metrics**" for all the indices created by the elastic agent.

Questions:

1. Can we change the settings directly on the ILM policy " **metrics**" ??? our requirement is to hold data for 90 days and delete right after.

2. If i change the currently ILM policy, will it apply for all the current indices or do i have to expliclity run any command.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
