# Elastic APM index name requirement?

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a requirement on the index name for the logs to appear in the logs section of an Elastic APM transaction?

I moved to using Elastic Serverless Forwarder to send applications logs to a custom named data stream. These logs go into a custom named index and this index does not start with the word `logs`.

However the logs no longer appear in APM transactions.

The indices comes from the Logs Settings page  
You can navigate it under Observability -\> Logs -\> Streams and the Settings on the Top of the Page.

You will see the default value set there is - `logs-*,filebeat-*,kibana_sample_data_logs*`

It should be possible to add your custom index.
