# Elastic Search creating multiple Instances

We are using version 1.4 and have a 6 node cluster.We are observing some weird behavior for the past few days in one of the nodes in the cluster. When we are viewing from head plugin we can see the same node appearing twice.

On inspecting further and running "top" from the command line in the node we are seeing 2 instances of Elastic Search in the same box. Even when we close the elastic search service we can still see the node from the Head Plugin.

Has anyone faced this issue before where Elastic Search is creating an additional instance in the same node.

To be honest I haven't seen that. There are better protections in later versions to stop this, but I'd check your OS logs to see if there's anything.
