Hi,

Any idea when is the planned date for Elasticsearch version 1.0?
As of now we are using Elasticsearch 0.90.3 release version. 1.0 Release
seems to have pretty good features hence thought to check if there is any
expected date.

Thanks
Pranav.

All the salient features of 1.0 still have not made it into the master
branch, so I am assuming it is stil a while off. Just my guess.

We hope to have a beta out this fall with a general release early
part of next year.

if it is next year, that means i will need to use old version i.e. 0.90.3

ES just to be prepared?

Upgrading is always pretty straightforward. Stop indexing, flush
the indices, replace the software, and restart the cluster. Always
do it in a staging environment first and make sure no API changes
have broken functionality on the application layer. Also check the
release notes for each version you're moving ahead of to make sure
there aren't any special instructions.

Downgrading is more complicated. Sometimes you can do it if the
Lucene version or cluster state serialization hasn't changed. In
general you don't want to.

I am not sure if I consider bringing down the entire cluster as pretty
straightforward. 🙂 Rolling upgrades was a feature proposed for 0.90 or
even 0.20. Any word for 1.0?
