Hi,

We are experiencing an unbalance on our cluster, and after some manual shard reallocation, we saw that there was no disk space freed at the time.

After a quick check on the logs, we saw that lucene failed to acquire a lock:
org.apache.lucene.store.LockObtainFailedException: Can't lock shard

I found another thread following the same problem, but without any response and how to proceed:

[2017-11-29 16:19:36,609][DEBUG][cluster.service] [els10] processing [indices\_store ([[v3-large-customer-data-60][14]] active fully on other nodes)]: execute [2017-11-29 16:19:36,609][DEBUG][indices.store] [els10] [v3-large-customer-data-60][14] failed to delete unallocated shard, ignoring org.apache.lucene.store.LockObtainFa…

We are experiencing exactly the same issue: how to proceed to remove such files safely?

Thanks in advance,

Best
