# Elasticsearch 8 won't start on Centos 7

Check the logs at the /var/log/elasticsearch directory.  
If there is no details, change `rootLogger.level` to debug in log4j2.properties, and restart ES.

By default, you need 50% free RAM and 15% free disk space.
