# Elasticsearch appears to be unreachable or down!

Hello , I need x-pack so i have installed it in :  
1)Elasticsearch  
2)Kibana  
then and finally i have installed it for logstash as descriped [here](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/6.2/installing-xpack-log.html) :

- 

```
 bin/logstash-plugin install x-pack

```

and then i added in logstash.yml the following :

```
xpack.monitoring.elasticsearch.username: logstash_system
xpack.monitoring.elasticsearch.password: logstashpassword

```

when i run logstash i got this :

```
Attempted to send a bulk request to elasticsearch' but Elasticsearch appears to be unreachable or down! {:error_message=>"Elasticsearch Unreachable: [http://elastic:xxxxxx@localhost:9200/][Manticore::SocketTimeout] Read timed out", :class=>"LogStash::Outputs::ElasticSearch::HttpClient::Pool::HostUnreachableError", :will_retry_in_seconds=>64}

```

Elasticsearch is runing and it status is green  
how to fix it ?

i don't know why but after a while the problem disappeared
