# Elasticsearch - backup between servers

Hello,
I would like to know the best practise/solution to have backup between 2 aloof ES servers.
Is it the good architecture ? And how we can make this, if i want 2 Elasticsearch server:
- one for the normal functioning
- one for Backup
And each server is in different geographic site . So if ES 1 crashed or down , ES backup must take relay.

Look at the snapshot/restore functionality.
