# Elasticsearch Cluster status turns red while restoring an index

Is there a reason why cluster status turns red when restoring an index ? Is it because of unassigned shards ?  
I have a monitoring system alerting me whenever cluster goes red. Can someone point me in the right direction to avoid those false positives ?

Hi,  
I have seen some similar one, that sometimes, if the REDIS server was not reachable, and I was trying to get the index list, the curl call gives back a bunch of out-dated, pre deleted index in the return list, and they are in either red or yellow status. Is that the latest behavior ?

I am using ES Version 2.4.
