# Elasticsearch data folder size

am running elasticsearch cluster for elk  
with 1master 1client and 1 data node  
(5shards and 1 replica)  
mounted the volumes under /data directory in the es containers.  
i allocated 20 gb volume for each  
but when the cluster is formed if i see the usage in /data  
bash-4.3# df -h /data  
Filesystem Used Available Use% Mounted on  
192.168.1.11:/home/qolsys/podvol/esdata/0  
Size 160.3G  
Used 70.3G  
Availabel 81.8G  
Use% 46%  
Mounted on /data

why is the use% 46 at the initial stage itself when there are no indexes created yet

pls clarify
