# \[Elasticsearch\] Estimating the duration of a reindex

Hello everybody,

is it possible to estimate the duration of a reindex between one cluster and another?  
Knowing the total GB and the characteristics of the VMs hosting the Elasticsearchs.

It depends on a lot of factors, so I think that is hard. It is probably best to test on a subset of the indices and extrapolate from there.
