# Elasticsearch exited unexpectedly

Hello,

I have a similar problem to this [post](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/failed-to-start-elasticsearch/317304). My problem is a bit different since I managed to start Elasticsearch the day before (before shutting it down). I have verified that all permission settings are correct.

Here are the logs I have:

It is not clear what your issue is, can you give more context? You just shared a couple of logs without any context.

Also, share Elasticsearch logs, not just the gc logs.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  
I'm running a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment. Elasticsearch version 8.3.0. I used this command to obtain the tar.gz file:  
`wget https://artifacts.elastic.co/downloads/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-8.3.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz`

As for the log output, when I run `./bin/elasticsearch`, i get this:

```auto
> ./bin/elasticsearch
> warning: ignoring JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-11-openjdk-11.0.15.0.9-2.0.1.el7_9.x86_64/; using bundled JDK
> 
> ERROR: Elasticsearch exited unexpectedly

```

Is there any other Elasticsearch logs that I do not know about?
