# Elasticsearch gc overhead

Hi team,
i am using ES 6.6.X version in K8 environment and running as 3 node cluster. each node has 64GB ram and i configured heap memory as 32GB. it is quite running fine for 2 months and recently i could see lot of gc overhead issue in the ES logs and because of this my index performance looks affected. Could you please suggest some permanent fix for this, there is a plan to upgrade the ES version also, before upgrade could any of you suggest if the issue will occur even i upgrade the ES version

6.6 has been [EOL](https://www.elastic.co/support/eol) for some time now, please upgrade ASAP.

32GB exactly? If so you may have crossed the compressed OOPs threshold - [Setting the heap size | Elasticsearch Guide [6.6] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/6.6/heap-size.html)
