# Elasticsearch maintenance release cadence

Hi,
A pretty critical performance fix was recently merged into ES and backported to 6.8. How often does this branch get released, and/or how are maintenance releases prompted?
Was looking through the [Git tag dates](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/releases), but couldn't really make heads-or-tails of any regular schedule. Just wondering if there's any way to estimate when the fix will be available in an official release.

We don't publish timelines or dates or anything, but it's (very) roughly every 6 weeks or so.
