# Elasticsearch red status after restart

Hello ,  
After restarting my elasticsearch , i can't recover any things and the status is red .  
is there anyone who can help me with this ?

You have far too many shards in your cluster, which is causing problems. You need to reduce this drastically. See [This blog post](https://www.elastic.co/blog/how-many-shards-should-i-have-in-my-elasticsearch-cluster) for guidance.
