Hi all, I'm running windows server 2012 and I can't seem to get the service running. It throws me a "refer to service-specific error code 1" I have pointed JAVA\_HOME to the proper environment C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0\_91 is what I have. What am I not doing right? It will install but when I go to the service manager it will not start. ---

Hi @Leonard_Larios_Chan, very hard to tell what's going wrong. Can you check the logs? You can also try to start Elasticsearch normally (i.e. not as a service) from the command line. This should reveal the root cause. You can also check the reference docs on [running ES as a Windows service](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/setup-service-win.html) and the [directory layout](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/setup-dir-layout.html).
