# Elasticsearch-setup-passwords

Hi,

Is there alternative for elasticsearch-setup-passwords .  
cause this looks like a manual process and passwords are plain text.  
Is there any option to generate keys and we can use the keys for kibana and logstash to use to connect to elasticsearch

Not necessarily, you can check out the Logstash's [secrets keystore](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/keystore.html) for example.
