# Elasticsearch stop suddenly

Hi guys,

Our cluster has 7 data nodes. **Sometimes one of them was turned off** (Elasticsearch service sudden stopped). how can I solve the issue.?  
And How can I minimize the number of shards because I noticed that the number is very high and that can be the cause of the problem ?

You probably have something in elasticsearch logs or system logs telling you what is happening.
