# Elasticsearch support for ceph storage

As far as I know Elasticsearch does not support ceph storage. Based on [this thread](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/use-cephfs-as-elasticsearch-data-storage/171324) it would seem it is not tested. I also recall seeing reports around [issues using ceph here](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/java-nio-file-filesystemexception/138160). Even if it did work, I would expect it to have a [negative impact on performance](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/7.3/tune-for-indexing-speed.html#_use_faster_hardware) compare to using local disks.
