# Empty Elasticsearch "search" log

I've been trying for some time now to log the queries made to my ElasticSearch version 6.2.3 service. This is the configuration I've set up so far:

**elasticsearch.yml** :

I've started the service with this config and performed ~10 successful queries, but they don't seem to get logged anywhere. AFAIK, I have the correct permissions set up in `/var/log/elasticsearch`. In fact, if I list the contents of that directory, I can see that a bunch of files are created in it (including `elasticsearch_index_search_slowlog.log`), and some content is logged to `elasticsearch.log`.

What am I missing?

Searches aren't logged.  
If you would like to get them logged, you should investigate slow logs.
