# Encrypt Snapshots before sending to S3

I wonder if there is any possibility to encrypt snapshots before uploading them to s3 via the repository plugin. According to the documentation only `server_side_encryption` seems to be possible, or am I missing something?

It's not possible today, but it is something that is being developed:

No, we don't have a release schedule for this. It's possible it will be in a minor release, since it may not be a breaking change.
