Welcome @yoitsdope

That error is because `apt-key` is not installed on your system. And I know zero about Kali linux specifically, but apt-key has been marked as deprecated for a while in Ubuntu at least, and removed in 26.04.

EDIT: It might help if you explain how you installed elasticsearch (specific commands), and maybe also when and what specifically, and what you want to do now.

There seems several discussions regarding changes wrt kali linux and 3rd party repo installation via apt, e.g. this specific thread:

[https://www.linux.org/threads/small-issue-with-apt-get-update.61981/](https://www.linux.org/threads/small-issue-with-apt-get-update.61981/)

But because I was curious I tried Kali, and this sequence works for me:

```auto
$ wget -qO - https://artifacts.elastic.co/GPG-KEY-elasticsearch | sudo gpg --dearmor -o /usr/share/keyrings/elasticsearch-keyring.gpg
$ echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/elasticsearch-keyring.gpg] https://artifacts.elastic.co/packages/8.x/apt stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/elastic-8.x.list
$ sudo cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/elastic-8.x.list
deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/elasticsearch-keyring.gpg] https://artifacts.elastic.co/packages/8.x/apt stable main
$ sudo apt update
@Edson_Ribeiro_Junior Did any of the above help you resolve your issue?
