# ES Embedded in 7.0

Is it possible to run ES embedded in 7.0? I am running into the same situation described in this previous [thread](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/httpaddresses-of-testcluster-es-7-0/206697). One of the participants mentioned that running ES embedded is deprecated in 7.0. I didn't see any mention of this in the release notes or breaking changes. Is this true? Can someone from ES confirm?

You can not run elasticsearch embedded. Read this [blog post](https://www.elastic.co/blog/elasticsearch-the-server).

Note that to run integration tests (not unit tests) you would probably prefer running that in something close to a production environment, like a real elasticsearch server instance.
