# Exception caught on transport layer (0.20.1)

This has been driving me crazy ;). I installed elasticsearch 0.20.1, it
starts up fine (via /etc/init.d/elasticsearch, this is a debian box). The
log is quiet up to the moment I start logstash (1.1.5). All I want is to
run logstash/elasticsearch/kibana on my centralized rsyslog setup. I get
the exceptions below as soon as I start logstash....
Any help appreciated!

Hi Ognen,
If you're using the "elasticsearch" output:

I think the problem is caused by the difference in versions, because
logstash uses 0.19.8. And you have 0.20.1. They should be the same version.
I think you have a few options here:
- use 0.19.8 in your cluster
- use elasticsearch\_http:

- patch logstash to use 0.20.1 or wait for a newer version
