# Exception when installing 1.2.2

What does this exception mean?

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError:  
org/elasticsearch/ElasticsearchException : Unsupported major.minor version  
51.0

java -version

java version "1.7.0\_11"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0\_11-b21)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.6-b04, mixed mode)

You are running another Java 6 JVM in your startup routine.
