# Exclude parts of on-page content from crawler

Our website has a large navigation structure in the header and a lot of legal disclaimers in the footer. Is there a way to have the web crawler not index these parts of the page?

I'm already following [these docs](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/app-search/7.13/web-crawler-reference.html#web-crawler-reference-meta-tags-content-extraction) to markup parts of the page as custom fields so I thought if I wrapped my main body content with `<div data-elastic-name='body_content'>` it would override the existing `body_contet` field, but no such luck.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi @tchocky -

At the moment, the web crawler beta does not support excluding parts of page content, however, that functionality is on our short-term roadmap. I cannot comment as to when this will be available, but we are planning it for the future.
