# Exiting: error loading config file: stat metricbeat.yml: no such file or directory

So I was having problems with metricbeat so I uninstalled it and the reinstalled metricbeat-7.11.2-amd64.deb and when I got to configure it in /etc/metricbeat the metricbeat.yml config file is not there.

Please help.

Hi!

Just installed Metricbeat on Debian VM on GCP (following the [docs](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/metricbeat/current/metricbeat-installation-configuration.html)) and I'm able to see the configuration file:

```auto
curl -L -O https://artifacts.elastic.co/downloads/beats/metricbeat/metricbeat-7.11.2-amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i metricbeat-7.11.2-amd64.deb
sudo cat /etc/metricbeat/metricbeat.yml
......

```

VM info:

```auto
Distributor ID: Debian
Description: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
Release: 10
Codename: buster

```
