Hi there Elastic Support Team and Community,

I'm wondering what the index setting "force\_memory\_term\_dictionary" ist doing. I can't find an explanation in the documentation.

What I found was [an in-code comment](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/blob/master/server/src/main/java/org/elasticsearch/index/store/Store.java#L131) that explains something, but I can't understand what this means in detail.

Could you offer a more detailed, beginner friendly explanation of what "force\_memory\_term\_dictionary" does, ?
