# Fatal Error in Logstash runner

Dear All,

I am very new to Elastic search and while running simple.conf file logstash/bin directory i am facing the below mentioned Error

[FATAL] 2020-02-19 12:49:55.504 [LogStash::Runner] runner - Logstash could not be started because there is already another instance using the configured data directo  
ry. If you wish to run multiple instances, you must change the "path.data" setting.  
[ERROR] 2020-02-19 12:49:55.521 [LogStash::Runner] Logstash - java.lang.IllegalStateException: Logstash stopped processing because of an error: (SystemExit) exit

Kindly help me out.
