# Field not found message

Hi all,

I received an error message for a metric, saying the field wasn't found. The field not being found is fine since it does not apply to all my users, but is there a way to remove the error message. Instead having some sort of default message? Like "no data found".

Hi @vils,

Have you considered using a [runtime field](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/runtime.html) to check and return a default message if it's not found?
