# Filebeat 1.0.0-RC1, Logstash Forwarder replacement, is out!

We are excited to announce the release of Filebeat 1.0.0-RC1! Filebeat is a replacement for Logstash Forwarder, built on top of our extensible [Beats platform](https://www.elastic.co/products/beats)! It brings greater stability, performance, platform support, and an [extensive roadmap](https://github.com/elastic/filebeat/issues) for lightweight file shipping.

IMPORTANT: This is a beta release and is intended for testing purposes only. DO NOT DEPLOY IN PRODUCTION!
