Hello i am a new user,
I currently have Filebeat installed on a VM.
I have several config files corresponding to all the applications that can be installed on the VM.
I know where all the application files would be if they were installed on the vm.
Is there a way to configure filebeat such that it only tries to access certain paths when they are available? i.e when the application creates the folders.

Hi @ogba,

You can configure all needed prospectors as explained here [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/5.4/configuration-filebeat-options.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/5.4/configuration-filebeat-options.html).

Once files are available, filebeat will detect that and start fetching them

Best regards
