# Filebeat rate limiting question

Hello there, we would like to limit the producer rates from our filebeat into kafka. I found rate\_limit processor from below link can be used, but I am confused about what dropping the events mean. Is filebeat retrying the dropped events later or they are just ignored?
Also is there another way to throttle filebeat kafka output plugins?
