# Filebeat - received an event - has different character encoding

Just seeing you using the wrong port in your original config:

> beats {
> port => 5044
> ...
> }
> tcp {
> port => 5544
> }
> }
> 
> ```

logstash output requires 'beats' plugin, not tcp. The tcp one will try to interpret the binary protocol as UTF-8 which makes no sense.
