Has anyone come across a solution for this? I know maxmind mmdb's are not an option. So i think im stuck possibly writing a custom filter to query a google api and to be honest I do not even know where to begin with that task. Hoping to find something already built before I go down that path.

Thanks in advance

[This](https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/41/where-can-i-find-canadian-postal-code-geometries) thread contains some related information.

The concensus seems to be that

a) the data is not freely available (except to non-profits) and
b) the Canadian government are making a big mistake by not fixing that.

yes, this is widely know which is why I posted my question the way i did. I believe that I've answered my own question and will try using a dictionary file with the translate filter.

Thanks for the input
