# Get sequence number of document

When I add an document to elasticsearch 6.0.1 I get the \_seq\_no in the response.

Is it possible the get the \_seq\_no via get document api or search request

@agaengel Yes, we planned to use seqno and primary term in CAS (see [https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/26493](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/26493)). However, we don't have a specific schedule for this feature.
