# Getting an error when starting ES

Error: Could not find or load main class org.elasticsearch.bootstrap.Elasticsearch

System: Redhat  
Java: 1.8  
ES: 2.3.2  
JAVA\_HOME & PATH set correctly  
Command: /bin/elasticsearch -d

Hi ,

I did some operation:  
wget [https://artifacts.elastic.co/downloads/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-5.2.2.tar.gz](https://artifacts.elastic.co/downloads/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-5.2.2.tar.gz)  
tar -zxvf elasticsearch-5.2.2.tar.gz  
cd ./es/bin/  
./elasticsearch  
then i got the message  
Error: Could not find or load main class org.elasticsearch.bootstrap.Elasticsearch

My java version :  
java -version  
openjdk version "1.8.0\_131"  
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0\_131-b11)  
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.131-b11, mixed mode)
