# Gigabit or Gigabyte?

When I check my elasticsearch using [http://localhost:9200/\_cat/indices?v](http://localhost:9200/_cat/indices?v), I can see that there is the size of the index.  
let's say I have an index there with 10gb.. Is it 10gigabit? or 10gigabyt?

Looking at my index, I would say in bytes.

```
in head-plugin : "size_in_bytes": 34963414,
via cat indice : 33.3mb
```
