# Go get github.com/elastic/beats@v8 fails

Was looking at `github.com/elastic/beats` and saw releases for `v8.*.*`, but the go.mod file for all of those tagged versions has `module github.com/elastic/beats/v7`. It seems like they should be `module github.com/elastic/beats/v8` otherwise, the following happens:

> $\> go get [github.com/elastic/beats@v8](http://github.com/elastic/beats@v8)  
> go: [github.com/elastic/beats@v8:](http://github.com/elastic/beats@v8:) no matching versions for query "v8"

While this succeeds:

> $\> go get [github.com/elastic/beats@v7](http://github.com/elastic/beats@v7)  
> go: downloading [GitHub - joeshaw/multierror: Go package for encapsulating multiple errors](http://github.com/joeshaw/multierror) v0.0.0-20140124173710-69b34d4ec901  
> go: downloading [GitHub - mitchellh/hashstructure: Get hash values for arbitrary values in Go (golang).](http://github.com/mitchellh/hashstructure) v1.1.0  
> go: downloading [GitHub - dop251/goja\_nodejs: Nodejs compatibility library for Goja](http://github.com/dop251/goja_nodejs) v0.0.0-20221009164102-3aa5028e57f6  
> go: downloading [GitHub - dop251/goja: ECMAScript/JavaScript engine in pure Go](http://github.com/dop251/goja) v0.0.0-20221025165401-cb5011b539fe

and installs v7.x.x latest.
