I upgraded my elasticsearch form 2.4.1 to 5.0.1

It seems that my head plugin isn’t working anymore.

I am getting the following error:

{"error":{"root\_cause":[{"type":"illegal\_argument\_exception","reason":"No endpoint or operation is available at [head]"}],"type":"illegal\_argument\_exception","reason":"No endpoint or operation is available at [head]"},"status":400}

Do I need to install a new plugin version? Does it exist for 5.0.1?

Regards,
Sharon.

Hi,

in Elasticsearch 5.x, site plugins are not supported. The head github page suggests you can run it as a stand alone server though. Not sure if that works with 5.0.1 though.

Hi,

Will it be supported in the future?

Thanks
Sharon.

Hi,

The plan is not to support site plugins anymore ([issue](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/pull/16038)). I'm not sure what the plans for the head plugin are, but reading [this issue](https://github.com/mobz/elasticsearch-head/issues/253https://github.com/mobz/elasticsearch-head/issues/253) in their repo I think they will only continue support for running it with the built in server.
