# Heartbeat ICMP Hosts Monitoring

Hello Team,
could you please help me in providing the Number of Hosts for ICMP Monitoring which can be Monitor from one machine.
like: for one machine having heartbeat installed and we would like to monitor 1000s of host for icmp monitoring.

It totally depends on your environment. Each host will be a new task. On network level you will see DNS + ICMP packets being transmitted. To not create too many packets in bursts (affecting the network) you might be interested in rate limiting tasks (on [heartbeat roadmap](https://github.com/elastic/beats/issues/3952)) + [limiting the amount of concurrently active tasks](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/heartbeat/current/configuration-heartbeat-options.html#heartbeat-scheduler-limit).
