# Heartbeat roles that are required

Hi,

I'm integrating Heartbeat and I've created a user but despite reading the doc's including [Grant users access to secured resources | Heartbeat Reference [8.17] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/heartbeat/current/feature-roles.html) and scribbling a page of notes, I'm still getting security errors that my user doesn't have the correct rights.

So specifically I need the roles please so that an agent can connect to my Elastic box and send stuff - it works if I give it "superuser" but I don't want to do that.
