# Help with dynamic mapping

Hello i have following being written to ES

I want to setup dynamic template where it will set following fields to not\_analyzed

nginx\_host  
agent  
referrer  
cookie  
http\_x\_forwarded\_for  
httpversion  
request  
remote\_addr

depending on a record, I may have fields like http\_x\_forwarded1 and http\_x\_forwarded2, i need to be able to set those to not\_analyzed as well  
and I would like to set response and response\_time to number

You don't need dynamic templates for this, you could use simple mappings? Eg.

```auto
{
  "your_type_name": {
    "properties": {
      "nginx_host": {
        "type": "string",
        "index": "not_analyzed"
      },
      ...same for other not_analyzed fields...,
      "response_time": {
        "type": "integer"
      }
    }
  }
}

```

The data coming in may change, so fields may go in and out with the newly index. I have a rolling index. This set of fields will be static.

If you have rolling indices, then this would be best put in an index template, so that mappings will be automatically added when indices are created.
